Forney –vs- Poteet (Woodruff –vs- Nowell, or Forney bats -vs- Poteet bats, or a combination thereof)

Totals through two games:
R H E
Poteet 14 12 1
Forney 1 6 6

Several things stick out to me:
1. Poteet has bombed Woodruff
2. Forney has basically been shut out by Nowell
3. Forney has committed many errors (4 in the first game, 2 in the second)

Unless the Forney bats get going against Nowell, that game will be, more than likely, a loss. Regardless of who is pitching for Forney. Using that as an assumption (and we all know about the word assume) I would throw my #3 pitcher against Nowell since they more than likely haven’t seen our #3 up close and personal and hope for a great game from our #3 and a little bat support (after all, we had two doubles in the second game). Then I would throw my numbers 2&3 against their numbers 2&3. It might tip those two games a little more in Forney’s favor since the Forney bats have been somewhat lively lately.

However that’s my opinion and probably is the reason that I’m not coaching High School baseball.
I agree about the playoffs being a new season, but think that's the case mainly if Forney has a "short memory". I know that they really want Poteet badly, but I hope that they don't want it so badly that they put undue pressure on themselves.

That being said, they have shown to be very s****** in the first two rounds and haven't let a defeat deter them from their goals. And, Woodruff had, as I understand it, a whale of a 3rd game against Nacogdoches. This should get his confidence back and we need him on the mound with confidence. And, him pitching like that will give a boost to a pretty potent offense from 1 through 9.

Thanks, Beast, for the good luck wishes. A little luck, of the good variety, never hurts.
Jackrabbitdad----I agree with your plan, I am not sure what your coach will do. I do agree that Nowell has gotten between the ears of them, but that is not unique to Forney. If Forney can keep their heads about them, it should be a very entertaining series. The last game played was 4-0, I believe, but Forney had two runners on in the top of the 7th, the batter crushed a pitch the Poteet kid ran down for the last out. So Forney played a very tough game at a very hostile site. Forney should be coming into this with a lot of confidence.

Good luck to both teams and may the best win.
