What is really done? Do you catch the ball with fingers pointing down? I feel like that makes your glove move even closer to the ground, making the pitch look even lower...Thanks
i personally have a hard time framing low pitches the thing i think works the best is catching i with fingers down and kind of slightly bringing the glove up hope this helps
I catch the ball out further and closer to the plate, rather then letting the pitch come in(kinda like you would on a fastball) I also shift my body to the center of the ball, rather then turning.
in the years i have played it was more likely to be called a ball with the fingers pointing down. i know its pretty hard to go that low and pretty much frame it backhanded. i would watch some baseball on tv and see how the catchers do it. that would be interesting to see that.
The best approach on the low ball is to try to keep the thumb parallel to the ground & try to bring the glove up while making the catch. This method seems to work best but is the most difficult to perfect.
