I don't know how FPC's paying for the JV team, but I doubt they'll have any trouble finding players. Franklin Pierce has a beautiful campus, decent athletic facilities, and a new baseball stadium, and their situated in a great location. Its an easy commute to New Hampshire's hiking trails and ski areas, the seacoast, Boston, CT, VT, and NY. Add a really good DII baseball program and you can't go wrong. A lot of my son's teammates (HS and AAU) are looking hard at FPC and its the only DII school on my son's list.
Kmom,

Have you ever been to FP? I was last year. First thing.. it's in the boonies! LOL Secondly, A stadium is where DI or a teams like Lowell play. I do have to agree on a couple things though.. They have a beautiful campus and that part of the country is beautiful and yes they do have a 1st class baseball program!

TR,
I agree having a JV program is a great thing. I just don't see w/ this Title 9 thing going on that there would be enough $$$ to have a JV team.. My next question is... do they have a JV softball team?? If not, watch out FP the NCAA is gonna be watchin ya. LOL
MM - I have been to FPC twice, once for the full tour and once for a clinic/showcase. I only live 45 min from there, that's why I know how close they are to everything around. They have great hiking at Mt Monadnock and Pack Monadnock, both of which are visible from the campus. There's goos skiing/snowboarding within a 30 minute drive and great skiing within an hour. The coast is about 90 minutes (straight out 101East), Boston is an hour, VT is 45 minutes (90 minutes if you're headed to Mt Snow), NYC is a 3 hr drive and upstate NY is 2 hrs. And I have to call the new facility a stadium because the old facility looked like a LL field.

Also know that the s****** teams (M & W) are incredible. Women have made it to the final four for something like 15 consecutive years and the guys wrapped this year as #2 in the nation. I have a niece who's an outstanding s****** player in upstate NY and we've been trying to convince her to give FPC a look.
Well Tom,
Maybe I'm not reading the same posts as you... KMOM said ..The guys wrapped up #2 in the nation last year. This is'nt a true statement.. FP finished #2 in the regionals
Coachdad said his son was playing for a Top Rank team... This not true either... The Top ranked team in DII is Fla. Southern. So.... maybe I'm the one getting my chops busted.a little. Would you consider FP's field a stadium??? After I corrected KMOM and Coachdad had to throw that in there too! As far as the boonie thing. I even said I think it is beautiful up there but you gotta admit it is a little out of the way.
As far as the polls I stated only true facts and my opinion about them. I do think i'm intitled to do that on these boards.. I see enough others doing it. About the digging into FP as a team.. I've never said anything bad about Coach King, the team, or the players. in fact... I've always said they have a great program up there. Yes, I have talked about Southern Conn. (just like you talk about your team and players) and there is totally nothing wrong about that!
MM, Just to let you know there is a new business in town..it is called Lenscrafters and they can be reached at 1-800-youareblind.. bore

Coachdad,
Several years ago when my son was being recruited, FP was one of those he visited and worked with the team ....after we traveled over the hills and through the woods and a few bear sightings bear2a later (we are city folk) it was just way too remote for our tastes...and I too, would never, ever classify your field as a stadium..it is a field on a pond...pretty setting but as I said I am a city girl and can just envision a few inebriated souls going for a midnight swim captain

Just a clarification - I was discussing the other sports teams, specifically the s***er teams, when I said the women had gone to the final four for 15 consecutive years and the men finished #2 in the nation. We know where the baseball team finished - we were tracking them on the web and hoping they'd advance to nationals when they lost.
After you get off the interstate on 85 at night, the ride to Clemson is scary. Dark, nothing but farms and churches, graveyards, etc. It's scary in daylight too. Boonieville.

But in the boonies sits THE most gorgeous field and stadium you will ever see. It attracts top quality players for their facilities and campus alone. My son doesn't mind playing for a school situated in the middle of nowhere, in fact he LOVES it, even for a city boy.

The only way a program is to be truly successful is having very good if not great athletic facilities. Schools like that attracts quality players, when teh weather can't attract them, north, south, east, west. For someitis the weather, but if you ask a college bb player he would choose teh one with the best facilities.

I can assure you if son stops thinking about the southern blondes he can concentrate on what he needs to do to bring up his grades to get into a school like Clemson. JMO. Smile
