Mike, you may also consider hooking up with a team that will be competing at the PG BCS or WWBA events being held at Baseball Heaven in June and Sept...although not a showcase format it does offer some exposure to college recruiters.
TR, Team entry fee's generally range between $1000 -$2000. Dividing cost over a team of say 12 players it's less than 200.00 per person. Not many showcases that I'm aware of charging less than 200.00 per person.
From what I hear, the Empire State Games don't draw many scouts. You may want to think about going to a professional open tryout. Their is no charge to attend most.
I would suggest a pro tryout as well. Even if you do not feel you are on the level of draftablity these are still great ways to get noticed. 1 they are free so your not losing anything, 2 you get to see how you stack up with local talent, and 3 scouts and college coaches talk a lot. We had some scouts talk to our team a little while ago and they said they are talking to coaches all the time and giving their oppinions. Also sometimes if they feel a player is a good fit for a certain program they will contact the school and let them know about the individual.
