I dont know about any of you other catchers out there but i have become very frustrated this season and especially after todays game. Im not throwing anybody out on the bases not because my lack of arm or acuracy but because of pitchers slow delivery and velocity. I had a chance to throw 3 people out tonight and couldnt because of slow deliveries. i made one a bang bang play and the kid got a HUGE jump. Im not trying to say im Gods gift or anything so please dont misunderstand. If I sound that way i appologize im just very frustrated. Can any of you guys give me some tips to get me a lil unfrustrated
Talent is Gods gift to you. The way you use it is your gift to God.

When a fast guy gets on call time and go out and tell your pitcher to make sure he holds his runner. You are the leader on the team - take that responsibility and get the job done. Don't be a jerk but be positive. Create a sign for your pitchers which is a throw over call. If they don't do it then you "remind" them to do it.
ya probably can't do much to speed their delivery at this point -

while I don't agree you need to "go out" each time a threat is on bases, do agree that communication is key .. the most effective type being subtle or secret from the opposition -

if you don't already have signs for a hold, pick off, step off, or decoy shake off .. install them now, even if it's just between you and your pitchers on the sly from your coaching staff

ps - quick pick throws can be disasterous if not practiced (balk/nailing grandma in the stands),
if they are not part of pitching workouts they should be
