Although I have spent a good deal of time reading the many wonderful posts on this site (probably much too much time, it sucks you in doesn't it?), this is my first post.
I think this truly great. There are so many people with such a great deal of good and helpful information.
I just emailed Jon Doyle after ordering one of his programs for my son. I hope he emails me or answers me on this site. I am open to hearing from anyone who can help.
My son is a LHP he is 6'5"and weighs 165, he is a high school junior. He is a strict vegetarian.
He is now drinking shakes and taking serious multivitamins. He wants to gain weight of course, in the off season and velocity.
I know there are many posts concerning velocity and some about weight gain. His particular issue is how to get enough calories without eating meat.He can drink whole milk, by the way.
He throws 83-85 now and looking to get up to 87-90 who isn't?
He is a good student at a really good baseball school.Plays on a great summer/fall team, has a great coach etc. He has big dreams. Any suggestions would be welcomed and I thank you all for making this site a positive and helpful place to go for information.

Masterm,

I did not receive your email. So feel free to email me again or we can speak through this post.

As far as foods here is a list that do not involve meat.

•Protein- eggs (whole or whites), milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, and milk protein powders (whey and casein)

•Carbs- oatmeal, oat bran, lentils, beans, 100% whole-wheat bread, whole-wheat pasta, red potatoes, yams, greens, most other vegetables, and fruit

•Fats- flax seeds and/or flax seed oil, sunflower seeds and/or sunflower seed oil, fish oil (from fish or as capsules), hemp oil, olive oil, raw nuts, all natural peanut butter, and avocados, cheese, and whole eggs

This is not a comprehensive list, but a start.

The key is total calories. What does his current nutrition look like?
