I figured someone on here would have posted about this but haven't seen it yet.

In the wake of the huge brawl at that JV game in Yuba, I can't believe nobody has mentioned the brawl at the Lee-Davis s****r game recently. Possibly vs Hanover, but can't remember exactly.

Rumor has it that 18 minutes into the game there was a bench clearing brawl. The refs called the game.

As a former Henrico County teacher I know that the rules are absolutely clear that if a punch is thrown there is a 2 week expulsion, no questions asked. I'm not sure what the policy is in Hanover County. But it seems that if they have a similar policy then there should have been a ton of kids getting kicked out of school.

What are these kids thinking? What are these coaches thinking letting things get so out of hand?

Anyone have any updates or insights to this story?

Jess -

Guess you really don't like s****r.

The point of bringing this is up is that video of a similar altercation on a baseball field went viral less then 3 weeks. Then this happens in our back yard. Kids that are friends of kids you know were involved. Very easily could have happened at your kids school or even involved your kid.

So I believe it is relevant to post here.

Coaches, what do you tell your players?
Parents, have you ever actually had a discussion about fighting?
Jess, any specifics on how you'd handle this with your kids or players?

Or is this all ok behavior and we should let the kids duke it out on the field?

Again, what's your point? From various news sources this was a 17 second "altercation" that ended when the antagonist's bench stopped him en mass. That player is now gone for the year, whilst the others have a 3 game suspension.
Seems to me to have been well handled by all in a reasonable fashion - do you have other insights?

I think this is a loosely relevant topic for forum so I'll take a swing at this, I have read the news on both of these incidents and found 2 common denominators.....#1Fans (parents) getting to involved and verbally attacking players/coaches/officials and #2 prior "issues" or bad blood between the 2 teams......Let's go back to #1 and Rich I think you gave a "tip of the week" covering this.....Parent's(fans) cheer for your team, encourage your team, do not berate, insult, or antagonize opposing players/coaches/officials, this happens WAAAAYYYY to often. I agree with you Rich, the best away to put an end to this is self policing. I know and even am good friends with several parents that are the nicest most professional people you can imagine.....until their child get's on the "Battle Field" then they can become well let’s just say embarrassing to be around. They re-live their childhood vicariously through their children, let it go people, realize and understand you are embarrassing your cjild, your team, and your community. Let it be decided on the field and teach your children the true meaning of sportsmanship! Again, these are just my opinions.
