Scorer's discretion on hit vs. FC based on whether B2 would have beaten out the throw, correct?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking, and there’s not enough info so I have to guess at some things. It sound like you’re saying the run ended the game, and you think that as soon as the run scored the game ended. That’s technically true as far as the game goes, but the play allowing the run to score isn’t over until the batter has been put out or reached base. So, the scorer has to make some kind of decision because so many things depend on it. Was the run earned, was there an RBI, was there an error, was it a hit, and there are probably more. Also, unless the batter was put out, he would have been LOB.

So you’re right that it is the scorer’s judgment, but as I said, the game wasn’t over for the scorer until that last play was completed. Wink

I'll try to answer your question without any extra added information. First and foremost, this is a definitely one of those "Had to be there situations". Your last line about B2 reaching first as run scores has no bearing on Hit of FC.
This is certainly a judgement call by scorer. Obviously with the winning run going home, the third baseman has to try and get the run at home.(You don't let us know what the fielder did, I'm assuming here) This is where the scorer has to judge, could he have thrown the batter out at first after fielding the slow roller? If you judge yes, it would have been an easy play, then it's a FC. If you judge, that it would have been a tough throw and would have to be perfect, then perhaps you judge the batter gets a hit.

Once again it falls to a scorer's judgement. Not everyone will ever agree with plays like this that could go either way. More than likely home team calls it a hit, and visitors call it a FC. Either way batter gets a Game Winning RBI
