Those are usually during tournaments. The primary reason is that there are many teams in these tournaments and most tournaments guarantee each team 4 or 5 games. Since they do not play on Sunday, that is really the only way to get the games in.

Once district starts, the games are at 7 or 7:30.

Oh, I almost forgot...the coaches don't care if the parents are there or not. Wink

Just work the concession stand, join the booster club, sell the tickets, buy the tickets, buy the accessories, but.. don't come to practice, don't have any other involvement if possible, that includes being at the game.

I was really kidding about parents being at the game. They certainly want support.

I think most coaches have to insure that parents don't become to chummy with the coach as to not invite unwanted suggestions from parents, i.e. batting lineup and why little Johnny isn't playing, etc.

That could be the deepest, most sincere 3-sentence comment that's ever appeared on this site.

obrady,

It's very common.

Our upcoming schedule has us playing doubleheaders in tournaments the next two Thursdays. Both starting times are 2:30 and 5:00. Makes it hard on parents, but the kids love it!

theygrowupfast you know coaches do that so parents can't attend the games Just kidding.

No kidding! We should all be so lucky to recognize the time with our kids is limited, and that we need to embrace every moment. Too often we take for granted that we can say and do and be a part of, when in actuality the time is here and now.

Superbly articulated, O'Brady!

OB. I did not take is as you were bent and I don't think anyone else was either. I/we know how you feel. I have one that has moved on(26) One that I enjoy watching(16) and one I enjoy coaching(13). I have two years left of "full time" coaching before I hand him over and I am trying to spend as much time with them as I can. Your statement is right on and I agree with you! See you at the games.

Understand completely...the time with the kids goes by faster than any of us would like. Unfortunately, they schedule the tournaments this way to pack in the games.

Hey, call in sick, I won't tell.
