Smithson Valley 6
San Antonio Reagan 2

San Antonio Reagan lost a heartbreaker to its biggest district rival Smithson Valley tonight. Reagan senior Brett Aguilar, bound for UTSA, got Reagan off to a fast start with a home run off the first pitch of the game, but Smithson Valley countered with a 3-run homer in the 4th inning. Both teams looked jittery at times. Reagan was missing one of its top pitchers and hitters (6 home runs thus far this season) due to a violent stomach virus. Reagan's record is now 19-1-1.

OP,

It was nice to finally meet you tonight.. We made it intresting at the end huh?. That Nico really can stroke the ball. DA told me after the game he released that pitch and said, AWW S**T.
I told him if your going to give up a bomb, make it a good one!!

We'll see you at your place next time..Peace
A few casual observations...

1) Neal is the ace on the best 5A team in town --- he's under-rated? I think he may be somewhat under-appreciated (if not under-rated) because he's not necessarily a pro-prospect out of HS....but he is certainly a winner.

2) No one -- other than DTIGER -- can report his great outings? Great job, Kyle. Smile

3) I noticed several low-hit games tonight. It's half-way through the year now -- when does the hitting catch up to the pitching?

4) Is it me or are a few of the new programs having unusually nice years -- Rockwall-Heath, McK-Boyd -- some nice wins.

5) What's up with a few of the preseason favorites?

6) So -- here's a redundant question -- can someone explain (again) the promotion that gets you a game at the Rangers BP in Arlington?

7) Who is feeding McNabb his BLOG information??? Smile He needs to read the HSBBWEB!

8) There sure are a lot of night owls around here...

Cool

Contact the Rangers. Here's how Keller's deal works.

We commit to sell at least 1,000 tickets. We buy the tickets half price, and then mark them up and keep our half, but still sell them cheaper than the box office.

If you commit to the 1,000 tickets, you get a game at the Ballpark.

Our best fundraiser.

I know teams like Waxahachie sell only one or two Ranger games, as they try to make it a community event and bring the whole town to Arlington. Keller offers any game on the schedule except for the blackout games (opening day, July 4th, a Saturday Yankeees game.)

beat me to it...definately an experience unlike any other...
Zach Neal is not underrated imo. I hear his name thrown around a lot. I guess it might be over shadowed by bigger names/prospects but I'm sure everyone knows who he is and what he can do.

I'd like to submit that Kyle Meinhardt be the most underrated/shortest pitcher in the area. Smile

By the way, some WEIRD umpiring in Jesuit's game today. Either weird or horrible, can't quite get it right. I'll expand if anyone's interested later, but for now I have to catch up on some Z's.

We have a very similar deal with the Rangers except that we sell a dozen different games. I was out in the bullpen and was talking to the Rockwall catcher and he said that each player, freshman through senior, has to sell 20 tickets. Last year when time was running out and we didn't have all of the tickets sold, we had some donations that bought the remaining tickets and our team donated them to Special Olympics.

So it is a absolutely great experience and have had a blast the last two years and look forward to it next year. Unfortunately, I think that theres only 8 or 9 slots (16 or 18 schools) for the games. And if each of the teams don't keep up with their part of the deal they are out and there are plenty of teams that will sell those tickets.

Not so much underrated but more unmentioned. He is a tough competitor and throws strikes. Last night for instance he recorded 92 pitches of which 74 were for strikes. Defense was the difference in this game. (MOO)

OK...OK...FM is good but what happened to the high powered offense? I guess good pitching shuts down average hitting Big Grin

UPNIN...I thought your son graduated? Make sure you come to Coppell next Friday.

Anybody in HS ever get drafted for good defense before?

OLDBAT...was there any coaching blunders or animations by either coach last night?

How fast were both pitchers throwing? I am sure nothing compares to what we have Big Grin

More details would be appreciated. Also, when are you cooking dinner for me? Eek Eek
Train:

Coaches: no blunders or animations..............darn you won't have anything to write about, at least not at this time.

Pitching Speed: don't own a radar gun so couldn't tell you, all I can say is that both pitchers were more than effective and that in my book ranks higher than velocity.

Cooking: to cook for a person you should enjoy their company so the invite "isn't" in the mail......

and BTW: Hazel has left the building.
