I see a lot of college and high school catchers using Louisville Slugger gear. Is the gear all that good or is it sponsorship driven? Just curious. My other thought was that it might be because of all the colors it is available in. Thinking that if you can do the job behind the plate then the gear is for the most part unimportant. Just a personal preference more than anything. JMVHO

In major college programs it is all to do with sponsorship. In high school it could be for a number of reasons: coach’s connections, sponsorship, quality, price, player preference, donations, etc. The quality of catching equipment probably has to do more with the price rather than the mfg's name.

i own the original tpx bionic gear and i love it its very comfortable and the chest protector deadens the ball great

I got the TPX gear to try out this year and my catchers seem to like it.
