I lost alot of respect for Georgetown baseball after their actions this weekend. Their fans are some of the most classless fans I have ever seen. It takes alot of class and courage from 40 year old men to talk smack to 17 and 18 year old kids. The things they yelled at the Plano West players were obscene and really showed their true colors. Also after the game was finished, a ball with vulgar and derogatory words written on it was thrown into the direction of the Plano West bench. That was uncalled for and just showed the classlessness of Georgetown. You have to win with class and you have to lose with class. Georgetown failed to do this and the beating that Plano West administered was well deserved.

I sure hope your post made you feel better. I am sure I will feel better after this one. Seems like after every game, especially a playoff series, there are fans who can't wait to tell someone how "classless" the other team is. Most don't do it over the internet, but this is 2008. Truth is, you have to look in the mirror when you do it, and sometimes the name calling bounces right back at you. I am sure some GT fans were rude and crude, etc., just as I am sure some PW fans were, well in fact, they were, with a coach that also showed the ultimate in classlessness disrespect for the opposing team at the end of the game. No wonder that rumor has it that most of DFW doesn't respect the PW program. GT fans outnumbered PW at least 3 to 1, give them credit for supporting their team, just as you support yours. We could go on and on, back and forth, with name calling, accusations, etc., but most fans leave it at the field and move on, except this time, with my first internet post. Man I feel better, well not really. Congrats to all the kids who put on a uniform this year, playoffs or not.
If GT's parents idea of support is yelling curse words at the opposing team's players then they are the most supportive parents in highschool baseball. This is not support. Grumpy old men yelling things like "that was a ***** hit" "yall cant hit ****" etc... This type of behavior should not be brought to a baseball field. I give the Georgetown fans credit for showing up i think the entire city of Georgetown showed up for Games 2 and 3. West fans were outnumbered by at least a ratio of 5-1. How did the PW coach show the ultimate in classlessness disrespect for the opposing team at the end of the game?
First of all let me say that, according to my son, the Georgetown players were very respectful the enire series!!!

With regards to fanman and basebllfan, you are both right and wrong. The poor behavior in the stands is pervasive in high school sports and is not limited to Georgetown or Plano West. Maybe if we clean-up our acts on this website that might filter to the field and we, as parents and fans, would learn to cheer our players on and appreciate the athletic prowess of the competitors.

I am not without my moments. Earlier this year, as some may remember, I said things during a game that I shouldn't. I have made a commitment not to do that again. So far so good. I even had a similar message to fanmans typed last night, but deleted it before I posted.

Let's enjoy watching our son's play ball!!!
Good for you Kirk.

I to have a better outlook on watching the boys play.Having not being able to watch my kid play for the last 7 weeks, has made me realize that all the other **** that goes on at a game is a non factor! The focus should be on the team and the kids.

My son has also learned that being respected by other coaches and his piers for his abilities on the field, and not his talking trash, is how he wants to be remembered.

Life has an interesting way of leading us down the correct path!
Kirk and Planocatdad, I agree with your posts and Kirk, that is a compliment coming from your players. I know our players had respect for your team as well. The players seem to be more mature than us "grown men."
With regards to the initial topic that started this whole mess, the post from fanman; ("after the game was finished, a ball with vulgar and derogatory words written on it was thrown into the direction of the Plano West bench. That was uncalled for and just showed the classlessness of Georgetown. You have to win with class and you have to lose with class.") You may want to get your facts straight before you berate your own program such as you did. The ball with the derogatory words written on it was originally thrown from the PW dugout into the GT stands. One of our dads, right or wrong, simply picked it up and threw it back. I guess I'm doing the same thing by writing another post, maybe I should just let it go...but I do think that your initial post of accusations needed to be answered. I think you mentioned something about winning with class?
As far as the way your coach acted, ask him, he's probably proud of it and won't mind telling you. I don't want to start anything else. I'll take planocatdad advise from here on out and leave the focus on the kids, which was positive for both teams. Good series and great season for both teams. I also know one of our parents pulled up next to your team bus, offered congratulations and good luck, and your team very positively accepted it and said thanks, etc. Just thought I would end this on a good note.
Unfortunately this is where we are now in high school sports. If you watch the dugout, the coaches and the fans you will see a common thread. Usually teams with loud mouth parents have dugouts with loud mouth kids. IMO this is something that the coaches have to get a handle on. The real problem here is parents and it doesn't take many to ruin it for everyone. This is the same dad who was at t-ball yelling at umpires 13 or 14 years ago. Or the same mom yelling at another mom because her first year kid pitch, pitcher beaned her son. You can have 14 sets of great supportive parents and then one or two sets that spoil the teams reputation.
basebllfan,

your extra dig at fanman was totally uncalled for. Maybe you are one of those loud mouth Georgetown dads, with ba**s the size of peas, down the third base line that yells at the opposing players...that's real tough.

The opportunity to turn this thread into something positive was there, however you chose to continue to waller in the mud.
So YOUR extra dig was NOT uncalled for. Sorry, but I just had to defend a statement that was totally inacurate, and if you take that as a dig, then you took it wrong. Look again at the first post and see who felt compelled to start this trash only to state the facts wrong. I never once used any derogetory statements such as your last bit of name calling. I think you just broke your vow. I was not one of the individuals you spoke about, I did not deny both sides were wrong to some degree, but again, facts are facts, and the truth of the matter is that your side started this, and they also started the postgame trash by writing that junk on the ball and throwing it at our fans.
Basebllfan,

I just deleted a post that was a response to your most recent post.

I will keep this post short and sweet. You claim you never made any deragatory statements, yet you accused our coach of doing something that was the ultimate in classlessness disrespect. That is deragatory. If you won't tell us what he supposedly did then shut-up.
