My son has graduated getting his diploma with a GED as of January. He is a good ball player both in High School and travel teams. He is 6'3" 175lbs outfield/infield and pitches. We got a late start on recruitment and are just getting going. How can I help him get into a community college in Florida or nearby? Can we hope for this year and when can we start looking for the next year? How do we proceed from here?

Your son graduated in January and you still have made no effort to contact any programs?

Your son should (at this point) be signed up to attend a JUCO, if they have a program, then he can ask the coach to try out for the team. College first, baseball second.  JMO.

Just because he is a "good" ballplayer in your opinion makes no difference, someone else needs to determine that.

For you as the parent, never.

Your player can contact the coaches at any time.

As for the time of year, spring is very busy for college coaches at any level.

For first contacts, mid-week morning office hours are best, at least you can leave a message.

Once you have a coaches cell number, Mondays are the best day to call.
