I am currently a freshman in college at a small division 1 school and decided to not try out for the team this year. However, after seeing some of the players they took I feel I would've had a very good shot at walking on this year. I am kicking myself for not trying out and inside it is killing me everyday. I am currently getting back into the shape I was this time last year and looking to make gains for next years tryout. I am weary of taking a year off that I might have lost some of my skills and was wondering if anyone else has a son or knows anyone who took a year off then walked on a team their sophomore year or went to play elsewhere. Thanks

No offense but it really doesn't matter what other people have been able to do. If this is something you want then make it happen. You're obviously going to lose some but overall it shouldn't be that bad if you continue to workout somehow. Find a way to work on your baseball skills and give it a shot.

Don't be a shoulda / coulda guy. I shoulda played ball in college. I coulda played ball in college but I didn't because _________________. There are a million of these guys. Be one of the few who worked for it and at least tried. You may not make it but you won't be a shoulda / coulda guy.
