I live on the west coast but I am working on the East Coast during the playoffs. San Fran has playoff
fever and my house near Sacremento is no different.
Why on earth would Giants play a weekday 1pm start
in the NLCS? The game was over before my sons got
home from school. I am working in the eastern time
zone and it was the 7th inning when I got to my hotel room.
Say all you want about TV dictates the schedule. I
know MLB sold there soul to the networks. We have
one team east of Dallas left and they get an afternoon start. The ratings are already low
and they prevent the western half of the US
an opportunity to see a great game. Way to go
Bud Selig.

Son and his college bb buddies are on fall break. Went to the Giants game yesterday along with 44,000 other people. Had a great time, beautiful weather. Saw lots of friends, only paid $10 for parking, and to make it a perfect day the Giants won. They loved it being a day game but all those that were work and couldn't watch were pretty bummed.
The games sell out regardless of when they are played. The tv revenue is set. It's not about the fans.

Welcome to our world and the World Series (also the NBA Finals). On the east coast it's usually the third or fourth inning at 10pm (second inning if LaRussa is managing). The game ends after midnight. Kids can't stay up to watch. I usually fall asleep and wake up to infomercials at 3am.

As a kid all the World Series games were played in the afternoon. The game was half over when we got home from school. I remember the '67 World Series being broadcast over the school PA system.
