First and foremost and always - the men and women who protect and defend our nation and our way of life.

And MNMom (and Bob H) - two of a kind - without them - this very special place doesnt exist. Simple as that.

And Coach May - you wont find a better person to help your son or daughter play this game and develop into the best they can be. On or off the field.

And TRHit - you wont find a more down to earth "old school" guy - nor will you find anyone who spends more time helping young players - regardless of their skill level - all the time - every time.

And PGstaff - you wont find a person more honest and more knowledgable about this game - all facets of it.

I give thanks for these people - and many more on this site - and I wish all of the HSBaseballweb family a very Merry Christmas and a very healthy and happy New Year.

its,

I'm pretty sure there are others who are more knowledgable than myself, but I sure do feel humbled that you would say that. I think there are many very good people here who are responsible for making this site so great. Too many to mention!

Anyway, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the comment about being an honest person. That means everything to me. Other than for scouting purposes I don't take notes very often. I found out a long time ago that if you always tell the truth, you don't need to rely on your memory or notes to remember what you said the first time.

Make mistakes... Yes, Say nothing when I should speak up... Sometimes, Lie... Never! Not when it comes to baseball anyway.

Thanks again and I wish you, your family and everyone else here who contributes to this site... The very best during this Holiday Season.
its - Merry Christmas indeed!

I am thankful for this site. It is my only social network. Here is a shout out to deemax and beemax - I miss bbscout and feel blessed he was a member here!

To my friend JT - I miss you and we will meet again someday! deldad - thanks for being a member here and God Bless. To all those who have lost a loved one, we will see them again someday.

To play baseball, I have been cooking the sauce all day for tomorrow's feast. I know you call it the gravy but it is going to be a good year next year for all of us by being more positive than all the negatives that we can possibly encounter.

PG - I was touched by your response to its. Honesty is worth more than all the gold in the world and you are indeed a rich man.
Words can not express how good that makes me feel gamer for you to say that about me. From the first time I met you I felt a bond with you that I know will last a lifetime. The first time I met Kyle I knew I was talking to one hel of a young man. There is no doubt he will be successful not only in baseball but in life.

I remember meeting you at Belmont Abbey during a showcase. We sat there and watch each others son play the game they love. We talked the entire game. I also remember when we stood down the right field line in Jupiter and watched my son play. The whole game we just talked baseball. You are a good friend and I value your friendship more than you will ever know.

PG is simply a class act in every way. I could tell a very long story about a young man that I asked him to help out one time. How what he did changed a young mans life. But I would take up way too much time by posting it. No one has done more for kids imo than Jerry Ford. And no one has more class and respect from me than he does.

To Cleveland Dad , TPM , TR , Gotwood , 44 , Infieldad and so many more I have learned so much on this site over the years. And most of it has been way more important than baseball. Merry Christmas everyone.
I don't celebrate Christmas, but the season, and I give thanks everyday for what I have and that includes all of my friends and acquaintences here on the HSBBW.

Funny how we thank each other, but whatever you are thanking me for Coach May, I have probably learned from you!

Prayers sent to those who have experienced devastating losses this year.
I got a Christmas card today from a parent of a former player of mine. It was a picture of his two boys and his beautiful daughter. I broke down when I saw it. Why?

The picture had his two sons on it. Nash Blackley and Landon Blackley. Nash played for me in HS and is the young man that PG was so instrumental in helping a few years back. Both Landon and Nash were students at ECU. Last June Landon and Nash were at a pizza parlor having dinner when a thug who had been thrown out of a night club next door to the pizza parlor drove by and shot several times randomly. Landon was struck in the chest and died later the next morning.

When we think about how tough we think we have it. When we find ourselves worrying about recruiting or playing time etc etc. We need to take a step back and think about what is truly important. We need to thank God for keeping our children safe and healthy. We need to pray for those that have suffer loss. And we need to focus on what we do have and be very thankful for it instead of worrying about what we dont have.

Have a great Christmas and stay safe.
Last night I spent the evening with family and our famous Chili Meal that Gotwood4sale is always kidding me about. Two of my nephews were there. Both are headed back to Afganistan. They are Marines. My brother had thought that they were already there and so, they pulled off the surprise on him. My other nephew who is also a Marine is very sick with pneumonia and so, they would not let him come home. He is also headed over IF he recovers from pneumonia. I sat there all evening talking with my two nephews and missing the third. For Joshua, it will be his third time over there. I'm very proud of them. Having them there made it a very special Christmas. Here is hoping and praying that Travis recovers.
Holiday greetings to all! I am thankful for my many friends and mentors on this site -- most of whom I have never met -- who give not only invaluable advice, but also encouragement in ways that are too numerous to mention.

Am currently several states away spending time with relatives in the San Diego and Palm Springs area. We are enjoying the gorgeous weather and hope that wherever you are, there is warmth in your heart even if it is very cold outside.

Merry Christmas!

What has been so wonderful to me as long as I've been a Poster on here is the incredible advise and encouragement we've received day in and day out. As I've learned and began posting on here little did I know that I was simply giving back what others before me had already forged ahead. I'll be telling my wife about something one of you said on here and she'll stop...look at me...and say.."honey, who are you talking about?" I'll then say... one of the my friends on the baseball website...and she'll just grin and walk away. I'm glad you folks are real or she'd be ready to lock me up in a funny house somewhere! lol

Anyways...I AM thankful for a few things myself:

* For Krak who coaches young men in the game we all love whose parents serve and protect our country overseas. Krak gives these young men the opportunity to continue their dream. Thank you Krak.

* For new Posters like Skidog who come here on HSBBW and seeks advise for his son about the recruiting process. I get a lump in my throat when I think about how incredible his son's courage must be every single day.

* For 3Fingered for always being "spot on" with information about rules, guidelines, and regulations when we are all sitting around scratching our heads and saying "is this right or wrong?" How I know I hounded him to death and he answered me every single time without hesitation.

* For Gotwood's untimely pictures, cartoons, avatars, etc. when they are much needed to lighten up the mood sometimes when we are in "offseason", bored, and are at each other's throats!

* For PG for always, always, always having the pulse of our young players and what is needed for parents to know...I mean really know what they should know about getting their son's to the next level. Through his infinite wisdom and incredible company that is second to none in my opinion.

* For Posters like Coach May, Fan of Game, Quillgirl, TPM, TR, CADad, CPLZ, who always seem to have the absolute best advise and down to earth wisdom to give posters on here in time of need. They always remind me of the proper temperment to maintain on here.

* And last but not least...Julie..aka MnMom. Without her this site would not be possible and we would all have to be admitted because we would not have anywhere else to vent about baseball! Thank you Julie for all you do for us here! It's greatly appreciated!

There are a ton others on here who have been equally special to me and my son along the way!

Its,

What a nice thread you started.

I agree wholeheartedly with PGStaff on this comment:

quote:
I think there are many very good people here who are responsible for making this site so great. Too many to mention!

I am continually thankful for the unselfishness of so many members of our community. Yes, there are a bunch of members whose names are synonymous here with great advice and interesting discussion, many of whom have already been mentioned. But I am also so pleased to see new members chime in with thoughtful and very helpful advice, or ask a question which sparks a very informative discussion. Yes, we need great questions along with great answers! Smile

And back to the list of "old-timers" who stick around the site ...

I am so thankful for those members who have been here through their own sons' journey to high school baseball, then college, and even pro ball in some cases, yet they patiently answer the questions of a parent whose 13-yr-old dreams of following that same path. They give advice about a HS player's injury from their son's own painful experience. They share a story of what really happens on a college baseball roster, or what it took to earn a scholarship. They tell their son's true personal story of failure... or rather, of obstacles, disappointments, and perseverance, which we all know is truly a story of success.

And finally I too am thankful for PGStaff (Perfect Game USA), who does more for youth baseball, and more for baseball players and parents, than most people will ever know. I hear the stories from parents behind the scenes, of how Jerry himself or someone else with Perfect Game has taken the time to help a player with hitting or pitching mechanics or running the 60, or has made phone calls to get a young man an opportunity, or made it financially possible for a young man to be seen even if his family couldn't afford it. Most of you will never hear those stories though, because they are done so quietly and modestly.

Thank you, Paul (itsinthegame) for starting this thread. And Thank You to all of our members, new and not-so-new, who make this site the greatest community on the Web.

Julie
