Braves are on TV today and I'm just amazed that Glavine continues to generate outs pitching at a mere (for MLB) 79 to 80 mph. A true location pitcher. I guess that lack of velocity has something to do with his longevity in the majors. Each pitch looks effortless.

Just an observation, as there is lots of talk of velocity in other sections of the forums.

Glavine began his career in the low 90's with a big curve, matured when he learned the circle change, and has hung on through guts and guile as his velocity has faded.

Frankly I think he should retire, but I guess if he enjoys it and they're still willing to pay him, he figures there'll be plenty of time for rocking chairs.
