During cold season workouts, do players where gloves on their throwing hand? Are there gloves out there "fitted" enough for game play? It's probably frowned upon, but then again, baseball is not a cold weather sport, AND yet, these guys still play ball in the winter months.

Here in Northern Illinois, we practice and play in ridiculously cold weather in the Spring and even sometimes in the fall.

I never let my players wear a batting glove on their throwing hand.

Stick you hand in your pants between pitches...you'll be fine. Plus, you can adjust your cup at the same time...kill two birds with one stone.
Please no one take offense to this because I truly don't mean anything by this but some of you people are cracking me up. 50 degress or lower and you're cold is a hoot. I spent many years in Kentucky with very cold temps and winds. We would have practice in parking lots in 30 degree temp with wind chill making it much lower. Because of this I can't even imagine practicing in northern Illinois and how cold it can get.

My first spring in NC it was about 55 degrees and I wore short sleeve shirt and was sweating. It just goes to show what you get used to.
I hate cold weather and to me anything below 65 is cold. I have never seen a day too hot for me. So the spring season is always a challenge for me. So your trying to keep players focused on doing what they need to do in practice and if you show your cold they will get even colder. So it is not uncommon for me to show up at practice in a T shirt and shorts when its very cold.

One day it was very cold and I didn't like the teams approach to practice. Guys were acting like they were freezing and we were not getting much accomplished. So I ripped off my shirt and proceeded to tell all of them it was not cold. Cold is in your mind. I coached the rest of the practice with no shirt on and shorts and it was around 35 degrees and windy. The players focus was much better. And it convinced them that I was indeed crazy.
