Coach McGowan is moving on to greener pastures.
After six years of leading the baseball program, Coach McGowan has decided to step down as the varsity coach. And yes, Good Counsel had a most successful eras having won two championship in five years. The 2010 team was 22-5 having won the WCAC Championship, being highly ranked (#3) by the Washington Post, and having all players graduate on time and on the honor rolls.
One of the assistant coaches for the past eight years, and is a Good Counsel Alumni, and is currently coaching in the Cal Ripken League is the most qualified and is a front runner for the position, which is expected to be decided before November (or sooner). The job does not pay well, but then that is not the reason to coach now is it?
There is an incoming 9th grade SS, who can play, and
to follow.
