Word is the coach stepped down. Any word on what happen? GC had an outstanding season this year. What's the word on who will get the job? Any names being thrown out there who are interested?

Coach McGowan is moving on to greener pastures.
After six years of leading the baseball program, Coach McGowan has decided to step down as the varsity coach. And yes, Good Counsel had a most successful eras having won two championship in five years. The 2010 team was 22-5 having won the WCAC Championship, being highly ranked (#3) by the Washington Post, and having all players graduate on time and on the honor rolls.
One of the assistant coaches for the past eight years, and is a Good Counsel Alumni, and is currently coaching in the Cal Ripken League is the most qualified and is a front runner for the position, which is expected to be decided before November (or sooner). The job does not pay well, but then that is not the reason to coach now is it?
There is an incoming 9th grade SS, who can play, and
to follow.

- Dan Angle - US Navy
- Steve Ulaky - All Decade Team, All Met POY
- Ryan Bottegal - All Met. Field named after family

Curious about the incoming frosh--so good that he is singled out as the next superstar before he ever steps onto the field. Can anyone tell me who this is, what is credentials are, whether is expected to varsity starter at SS?
As a matter of fact, I strongly encouraged the boys Dad (i.e. BK) to tour the new facility in Olney. My friend, and former head Good Counsel baseball coach, was called and I suggested: "JMc.... I am sending a very good one your way. The family is very nice, and better yet, the boy is special"
Bear--Can you disclose the player's name and his credentials (summer team, BA, OBP, infield velocity, 60 time, things like that)? I watch a lot of WCAC games and would make it a point to see this player if he will be playing varsity in a program as great as Good Counsel's.
Good Counsel is a rising HS Baseball Program, and has been for a few consecutive years.
Contrary to your opinion, there are two other HS programs in the great State of Maryland that are of the highest of excellence when it come to HS Baseball Programs and one criteria is in the quality of the HS Players that play (or have played) in the Big Leagues. (OBTW = your Baltimore's CH has one!)
And to be clear, the area between Rockville to Bethesda to Olney to Ashton to Burtonsville to Silver Spring to Takoma Park to Hyattsville has been a hot bed for amateur baseball talent, and for decades! Not quite as a hot bed as Hilsborough County (which is on a minor decline), but with that said, very good.
And as a former Good Counsel Baseball Coach, (and also on the minds of several of the Head Coach candidates for a Asst position) and knowing the young teenager is a minor, it is inappropriate to disclose what you seek on this public forum. I will say I see a five tool player in the making!
Yes there is plus speed, now.
Yes there is a 50+ arm now.
Yes there are very good hands and quality feet.
Yes he is a contact gap type kid.
And yes, you betcha he will get bigger, stronger, and go deeper.
