Horizon High School stages its National Invitational Tourament every year at this time, and it is always a top-notch even with great competition, featuring from year-to-year schools from Oklahoma, Texas, Idaho, California, Colorado and Florida along with some of the best teams in AZ.

Chaparral took the championship last night, 11-0, over Boulder, CO, after avenging a defeat earlier in the day against Yucapai CA. First championship in the tournament for the Firebirds since 2001, when my oldest son was a senior. This time, son No. 2 got a nice opportunity that he has been working hard for and went 5 for 8 in his two starts against a couple of good pitchers. It's a happy day for us here in AZ!

Thanks for the good wishes. My best to Desert Mountain, as well, although not that you need it. As you (and most others) know, DM has a great chance for the 5A state title this year. In fact, with the pitching and depth of talent on hand I would call you the substantial favorite. I know a lot of the players -- great kids, every one. It would have been fun to have played. Perhaps in the future a regular series could be established. Enough of those kids play with and against each other anyway, it would seem natural.

Thanks alot jemaz, I would hope we are the favorites but horizon always finds a way to win and they will be tough.....we will see though, and if we are talking about favorites, you gotta know chap is the favorite for taking the 4A crown, High quality program that will only get better, I hope DM follows in chaps footsteps, as I would want my son to play in a high quality program with the tradition of Chaparral's. When is Chap's next game? I would love to come and take in a game, (as long as its not the same time as my sons)=)

Just so you know the impact of your website in just a very short time: At least 10 different people told me about the picture before I had a chance to look for myself (and I check out the site more than once a day).

Anyway, great shot. It was much, much appreciated, especially by my Dad back in Virginia and by Michael's mother Smile.

Keep up the truly outstanding work.

By the way, I told Dave Highmark about the site yesterday, and you will soon have a new group of fans from Brophy. It's already a big deal at Grand Canyon!
