I read this today on the ESPN site. It again demonstrates the courage and fortitude that is Erik.
I personally loved it because it touches some on the relationship with his father. The contrast between Erik's toughness and Dad's heartfelt feelings were captured for me, in a very meaningful manner.
While I look forward to someday getting to know Erik, I am very lucky that baseball and cyberspace helped me get to know his Dad. I really respect justbaseball.
When you read this, I am sure you will be able to find some of the reasons why.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I am in complete agreement with Coach Knight...

Perfect refrigerator material...Definately the kind of real life stories of courage, perseverence, and focus that other players will respond to and respect...

...I know because mine sent ME the article before I even saw it. I think that is the ultimate compliment, the fact that that ED's peers find it impressive enough that they are cutting it out and saving it for motivation...

If there is a silver lining here it may be that through their amazing response to this challenge, the Davis family may literally change for the positive the lives of countless people they may never meet...

Too bad we can't consolidate the two concurrent threads here about Erik. I told his dad last night, and I meant it, that Erik IS a true inspiration. He has been pitching absolutely masterfully!

I have to say, I loved the quote about his response when dad asked about seeing a sports psychologist: "Why would I want to do that?" Some people are so well-grounded and healthy that they can be their own psychologist!
