I keep the pinkie off the ball, on the edge, put the cirle into the horseshoe, with other two fingers almost like a low two seamer. They key to controlling it is to keep every aspect of your mechanics the same. You're gonna get movement, but the best movement will come when you keep the same arm speed as a fastball, making sure you stay out in front, staying in contact with the ball as long as possible. That's going to give you the movement, control, and most importantly, the deceptive change of speed. In bullpens, work fastball, change, fastball, change. That'll keep the arm consistent.

Tips to controlling a circle change:

1. You might have to grip it so that 3 fingers are across the seams as if you were throwing a 4 seam fastball.

2. One key to control of the circle change is throwing your wrist to the ground. I know that sounds strange but give it a thought and try it.

3. Believe it or not, dragging the back toe will help allow the arm to catch up with the body. Now, you don't have to plow a field with that toe but drag it some.

Hope this helps. Patience is Golden! You have to crawl before your walk. Walk before you run. So, in pitching, working on this grips takes time. Start from 30 feet tyring to gain control. Then progress back to 60 feet 6 inches.

I hold mine like thus:

I split the pinky and forefinger so they are on the equator, and my middle and ring finger are widely spread on the top, and the finger tips of those to fingers dont touch the ball. The thumb goes on the bottom and you apply pressure with the inside knuckle of the thumb to get a sinking action. I'll take a pic of it if you want.

I even took it lefty for ya :-). Lol, that's just because it's a righty camera, so in order to take the pic I had to hold the ball in my left hand. Ideally on the frontal pic, the thumb is more directly underneath the ball. I'm not that coordinated with my left hand though, but I hope this helps. It takes a little getting used to but its outstanding, I've had it mistaken for a curve many a time.

Just click on the thumbnails in the frame on the side, theyll get bigger.
