Guide to ruining a phenom

Good, but sad story. I hope he can get his pension.

Tragic story. I would hope that this kind of thing couldn't happen today.

Last summer, my son's team played the team he coaches-my son spent quite a while talking to him-very humble and frank about his experiences. Funny thing-I went to the same high school( a few years after he graduated) and didn't know who he was until my husband told me at that game.

You would be surprised how often the Billy Martin reaction happens to a fine pitchers and a good kids that end up being destroyed as good prospects.

All they have to do to kill a kid's dream is not play them, or put them in bad situations that guarantee more failure then success.

This kind of stuff usually happens to the roster fill-ins, not the phenoms, but it does happen to them too.

A frustrated coach that didn't make it to the show can take it out on good prospects in competition rather than providing guidance and inspiration.

What a depressing story. It's painful.

I wish him well.

So many bad stories about pitchers... the expectations, the wrecked arms, injuries, etc.

Makes me glad my boy didn't end up a pitcher!
