Happy Father's Day to all of you great dads.

You sacrifice so much ... time, money, and sometimes peace of mind ... to help your sons and daughters follow their dreams. Some of our kids achieve their goals, and some end up on a different path. But all of them are blessed by having such dedicated and devoted dads who teach them, believe in them, and love them.

Happy Father's Day!

Thanks MNMom. It was a fantastic father's day all around. We played some frisbee golf with the kids and my dad and mom (in their 70s) at a genuine frisbee golf course (no bags to carry!). My oldest son called (he's working in NY) and we talked for 45 minutes which is 40 minutes more than we normally talk during college becasue he is so busy. It was great to spend some quality "air" time with him on the phone.

I hope your Father's Days was fantastic as well!
I didn't even get an ugly tie this year. All I got was a future son-in-law. My daughter got engaged to a great guy. I'm trying to adjust to being an empty nester. Now my daughter is telling me she's old enough to get married. My daughter told me not to think in terms of losing a daughter. She said I'm gaining a great deal on a mid life crisis upgrade. The guy is heir to several sports car dealerships. My daughter has a great sense of humor.

My daughter had a softball tournament. I posted this on a softball website in a discussion about BB playing 23U and Women's Tournaments but thought I'd share it here as well.

"We just got home a minute or two ago from a woman's tournament. The only difference was some of the player's ages and experience. For example some players were former professional players. This tournament had players in from all over the country. Schools represented in part on the teams my dd played today were Georgia, Kentucky, Bradley University, Notre Dame, University of South Florida, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, University of Iowa, University of Illinois, University of Missouri, ... and that was just today. DD's team ended up in 3rd place. They are absolutely worn out. My dd is in bed sleeping since they started early this morning and were playing back to back all day until they were finally eliminated ... My dd gave me a special father's day gift today. She made one out all day. In that game she was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a homerun. In another game, she was 4-4 with 4 doubles. In her last game, she was 1 for 1 with a 3 run homerun. She was walked every other at bat that game. The hug after their games were done and her telling me, "Happy Father's Day" was, as they say, Priceless!
