Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there.

This day was always somewhat special to me but this year with my Dad at 89 years of age and in the final throes of alzheimers and my 87 year old Mom in the hospital with a new pacemaker and diabetic,it somehow means a hell of a lot more today.

To you young players --appreciate your Moms as you only have one and she is VERY special in your life, even if you dont realize it now

On Sunday my 11U was playing in a tournament. Before the first game, the tournament director had a bucket of red carnations sitting on home plate and had the teams line up on the baselines and each kid got a flower out of the bucket and took it to his mom. It was a nice touch, and a reminder to them that mom was at the ballpark on her day.
