My wife was quite upset. I understood it was always best to clean the bird first. So to save some time I set the oven on Self Clean...seemed reasonable to me.



Carving it up I found the meat right next to the bone wasn't too bad...a bit crispy, but flavorful. The candied yams? Had to can 'em! And the stuffing? Cleaned it up some and used it after dinner for a rousing tournament of Yahtzee®.

Cant stop laughing. When i was in college and wasn't able to come home for thanksgiving, i cooked my first turkey. FWIW - if you double the recommended temp, the cooking time is not cut in half... although it seemed logical at the time.
