I'm a 6 foot 165lbs senior shortstop/3rd baseman for my high school team. This is my second year playing varsity and I'm hitting .275. I know I'm not a great player but I work hard and play good defense. Is there any chance I can play anywhere. I've already got the interest of Voorhees college in South Carolina.

First of all, welcome! You have come to a good place to learn and gain from the experience of others.

I'm sure there are others who will offer good advice, but as a senior you need to make some moves. At this point, I would want to quickly learn just how interested Voorhees is and simply asking the coach may be the best way. Then, I would assess my options/interest there quickly.

Also, Florida has some terrific juco programs that offer very good academics, as well. I would begin exploring these by calling and seeing if the coaches will let you come and work out for them.

These are just two quick thoughts. Good luck!
turn2pioneer, you are already ahead of many prospects with your work ethic. If you have the work ethic and desire and you play solid defense, surely there are at least a few teams that would be interested in having you. The key is to identify those programs.

I'm assuming that you are athletic, since you play SS, and that you have not filled out yet. If that is the case, you have a high ceiling, and it is very important that you locate a good college hitting coach who can help you develop to your full potential.

You remind me of my son, who was always a better fielder than hitter in high school, and who began his college freshman year measuring 5'11", 146 lbs. His college coach was/is an awesome hitting instructor and has helped him immeasurably with his hitting. If you can find a college coach who can help you with your batting, that is the guy you should play for.

See if there are some jr. college programs that have tryouts this coming May and June and attend as many as you can. Hopefully, some opportunities will crop up and you can evaluate each program's reputation for developing its players.

Best wishes!
