My 2015 has a verbal commit to D3. He has been communicating (texts, calls, emails) with Asst Coach/RC regularly. He last met with coaches in Nov (including head coach) but has not had any other communication with head coach. Getting ready to send in deposit to finalize enrollment, should son contact head coach directly? Don't want it to look like he's stepping on toes of Asst Coach.

Couple of possible routes:
(1) Email the RC with a copy to the HC.
(2) Principal email to the RC, noting deposit and any other specifics around the fact that he's coming. Separate, short email to the HC, saying that he's just emailed deposit details to RC and is excited about coming there. Copy of HC email to RC.
Congratulations to your son!
Or address it to both at the same time: Coach Smith & Coach Henry, I wanted to let you know that I just sent in...Then you aren't really stepping on either one's toes.
Thank you Prepster and ryno attack, decided to combine both ideas. Emailed the coaches yesterday, they had an away game so have not heard back. I'm hoping to receive acknowledgement of email from HC. Too much to ask?
Batsmith,
just curious - are you nervous about the lack of direct involvement of the head coach and looking for some affirmation of his commitment/interest? Or just looking to communicate your formal decision.
Yes, it would be nice to receive affirmation or acknowledgement from HC. If Asst Coach/RC is usual and customary, then my son will have to accept that.

I wouldn't be too worried. From my son's recruitment, each school seems to do it differently. It has been strange to me that some the HC is fully involved, and some he is not.
