Hey all,

I have been training all summer, seem to be getting faster and stronger, so I know it's working. The problem is I am leavign to Texas on Wed. and returning Sunday, to see my friends Air Force Boot Camp Graduation...and I don't want to stop doing any lifting for 5 days.

What exercises can I be doing in my room, or outside (we have a house, but it's supposed to be 100 degrees) to stay in shape and not lose the gains I have made all summer.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

I just happen to see your message. Have you ever heard of Max Contraction? It is a strength training method based on creating muscle perception. Muscle perception is when resistance or tension created makes muscles contract as if you were using heavy weight when you could be using weight as light as 25 lbs. E-mail me and I will send you pictures that I scanned and placed as a file on my computer of exercises you can do that will amaze you. Back to muscle perception do push up "super slow"; take one of your kitchen chairs or any object [suit case] and do kurls "super slow". You can do the same with any object held directly over your head and do squats "super slow". Ideally, if you can get a hold of a medicine ball, milk container (gallon)and put water or sand in it and either move "super slow" or hold in a max contraction position where you are forcing the belly of the muscle to absorb the greater portion of the tension. Look at http://www.runningplanet.com/t...rength-training.html (all 3 links) except perform movements either "super slow" or in a max contract position as long as you can. http://strengthtraining.suite1...dicine_ball_training
I hope this helps
Hey Chris -
Sorry I didn't see your post before now. Hope you had a great time. Some considerations for the future -
If you have been training all summer and making good progress you shouldn't lose all gains in 5 days time. If you feel the need to work out take along some gym clothes. You should be able to find a gym somewhere in San Antonio area and many hotels have small gyms - or if you don't want to go that route:
bodyweight squats for warmup
pistol squats (one legged squats)
push ups
elevated feet push ups
handstand push ups (if strong enough)
situps
isometric exercise (pushing, pulling against immovable objects - all kinds of ways to do this)
car/truck lifts (light or heavy ends - make sure the vehicle can't roll!!! oh and you probably need leather work gloves)
chins (door frames, play grounds, tree limb - if you can find the right tree)
rock lifting (keep safety in mind with this kind of lifting - falling rocks and feet and other body parts don't mix well - lift well within your capabilities)
running - all kinds
jumping
swimming if a pool is around

We agree on something again. This is one reason why doing things like sets of 10-15reps is stupid as well. I promise you, you don't move the 10th or 15th rep as fast as the first 2-3.

Truly strong people are quick and explosive-not slow.
