Hi, I am a freshman at a division 1 school in MA. I am not sure about the whole tryout thing or where I currently stand, and can improve. So please give me some advice about tryouts, the actual season, what equipment to buy and etc.

I am gonna post here some of my lifting stats and running stats. * Lifting is not my all-time best it is what I currently do.*

1: Body Build
(I am 5'9 139 lbs.)

2: Lifting
Squat: 125 lbs * Bar included in weight
Bench: 95 lbs * Bar included in weight
Incline: 25 lbs *dumbbells
Hammer Machine: 40 lbs ( This is really a football machine but it helps a bit )
Leg Extension: 110 lbs
Butterflys: 8 lbs *dumbbells
Wrist lifts: 10 lbs
* These are all sets with 12 reps in each set. I do one set then move to the next machine, and do 3 sets each workout. *

3: Running
40 Yard: 5.3 seconds
200 Meter: 37 seconds
Mile: 6 mins 40 seconds

4: Info
I play 3rd base as my primary position, then SS, and 2nd, as my secondarys.
I would like to pitch, and maybe play catcher.
I absoulutly HATE the outfield, but I have played it.

5: Improvements I relize I have to do.
I have a tough time tagging out runners stealing.
I drop my arms when I swing.
I occasionaly underthrow the ball while throwing to 1st base from 3rd.
I have a tough time with inside pitches.
As weird as this sounds when the pitcher throws fast I hit better, but when it is slow, I ussually don't hit as well.
I take small leads off the bag. ( As in not big enough to get a good jump for a steal )

6: Things I excel at-
I rarely miss a ground ball. ( I can make the dive at the bag. )
I catch or at least knock down line-drives coming at me.
I can absoulutly crush the ball down the middle and sometimes outside.
I can throw the ball very fast.
I can turn double plays very quick.

Once again if anyone has some advice or anything about what I should do to prepare for baseball please give me some advice.

Have you talked to the coach?Make sure to run your name by him. That way if there is a tryout,he will have your name in thought, even if only remotely.

I would also suggest getting on some protien after workouts if you dont already. This helps in the muscle and helps it heal and grow properly. Make sure the diet is in check too. Playing d1 ball is no joke, and its important to get the right health habits

For workouts,I would suggest doing as much compound movements as possible. Meaning, dont isolate one muscle during workouts. Try things like squats, rows, and such. Things that work multiple muscles at once are great

Now,hitting is a different world. We all wish we were better at it,in simplest terms. If you are having trouble with dropping your hands, put the tee up high, and take cuts from that position. That helped me a lot. Work with stretch/therabands to strengthen your throwing arm out.

This stuff has worked for me.Make sure you stretch WELL BEFORE AND AFTER each workout. If you dont, you might get injured, like I`ve had bad luck with.

Good luck man
No. I must have typed it wrong, I am a freshman in Highschool. Not College.
I think I might have fixed my swing by the way.
When I look at how I hold the bat now, and how I used to is that before my hands were above my shoulders when I held the bat, so that to swing I would have to lower the bat then swing. Now I hold the bat a little under my shoulders, so that it takes less time to swing.
Hey, i am also a freshamn in high school execept in GA. You should run your name by the coach and if you have any after school or before school conditioning you should go. Be ready for the tryouts come fully prepared with everything!!! Always hustle and try to be first at everything. I have the experience from last years tryouts. Down here Middle school is 6-8 grade and in 8th grade you can tryout for the high school team. I made the team last year and looking forward to it this year. Good luck and take my advice!!
