Those of you who follow IL College baseball maybe can help me out.

What the heck happened to David Cales at UIC? I noticed he was not on the roster this spring. He was on the pre-season Brooks Wallace award list (college baseball's MVP)

Did he transfer? If you know but don't want to speak about it here, shoot me a PM.

I ask for two reasons. Dave played for our Midwest Blazers club and I think he had an outside chance to be a draft guy this year.

Thanks in advance.

I have not seen David play but I'm pretty sure he transfered to Saint Xavier in Chicago. I'm not sure the reason but his name is on the roster. I have a former player their that told me of a left handed pitcher that transfered from UIC and throws smoke. Could that be him? Also interesting to note that Tanner Roark has transfered their as well but won't be eligible until next season. He had a good year for Univ of Illinois last year but I heard struggled in the classroom.

Cales is a righty.
If it's a lefty transfer from UIC, that's gotta be Donny Phillis from Ottawa Marquette.
As for Cales, his velocity was always good, but it was his slider that I always had rated the highest. That thing was filthy. The kids from the Limestone team that faced him in the 2006 semifinals still talk about that thing.
