Help Needed! What equipment do Big Leaguers wear?

Hey guys, I'm trying to gather some information and was hoping that I could get some help from guys on this board.

For the past few years I've been wanting to research how many guys in the big leagues wear which brand of equipment. It's not extremely hard research, but I just don't have time to watch all the games and it's hard to find out what the #2 catcher wears because they're not on SportsCenter but once a week, maybe. Having people on this board from all over the country would help a lot!

I would like to gather some info like this:

Brian McCann, Atlanta Braves, Mizuno - facemask, mitt, chest protector, and shin guards

I'll be more than happy to post the results once I get the info for all the guys in the big leagues.

Wow, that's a lot of work.
My suggestion would be to look at the catcher's latest baseball cards. It would be easier to do this if all the card companies posted them on their websites but I don't know if they do or not. If they have a contract with a company, it's always in the players' interest ($) to make sure the company logo shows up on his card!
Many of the companies (Mizuno, Rawlings, All-Star, etc) have online catalogs with their players in the photos. That's another option for getting some of the top catchers.

It shouldn't be that much work, there are only 60 catchers in the Big Leagues (give or take 4-5 depending on the DL). Every time a game is on TV we can see two of them.

Also, last years baseball card could have been shot the year before and players could have changed companies since then. I'm going to post the results in this thread.

If anybody wants to help out, I would really appreciate it!

One interesting thing to look at would be what each player's equipment contracts entail... Most contracts are for 1-3 years and include merchandise and/or cash incentives.

It's definitely tough for us (All-Star) to compete with some of the bigger brands who look at catchers as being billboards with lots of TV time.

Just saying, some catchers (and their agents)are very easily swayed to choose one brand vs another when check books are pulled out.

Also, in the last few years, a few "shoe companies" have been twisting players arms telling them "no gear... no shoes..." ...and because they really want to wear one specific brand of shoes, they are forced into the rest of the gear.

Crazy stuff happens behind the scenes when all sorts of different factors are thrown in. Freedom of choice is being sacrificed and some players get stuck into contract binding agreements.

I just came back from spring training where I met with all the catchers at the teams based in Florida. We check in with everyone, whether they choose our gear or go with another brand. When it's just one on one with the players, you would be very surprised about what some of them say about their gear.

Most of these guys are current, but a few are based off of what I saw them wear last year.

I'll keep a look out and update any if need be.
