The hurricane shelters in Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas can use volunteer help this week. I drove down to our Convention Center here in Dallas yesterday, found a volunteer entrance, signed in, and was immediately put to work with the evacuees.
They evacuees were totally exhausted and valued any help they could get in locating their needs in these huge centers. I spent the day bringing meals from the food line to those who couldn't stand that long and locating underware and socks for parents who had small children that were sleeping. I felt very safe, as there were National Guards and Dallas police everywhere. The evacuees were wonderful, gratefully, and extremely patient despite everything they've been through. Our helping hands and caring hearts will make a difference.
