With our house currently on the market up here in Minnesota our plans to move to Tennessee are close to being a reality. We're looking at two Nasvhille suburbs, Hendersonville and Franklin. I have family in both locations and both counties (Sumner & Williamson) appear to have good public schools. As far as real estate is concerned it seems you can get more for your money in Hendersonville than you can in Franklin. But what about athletics?

I know in years past Hendersonville has had a solid baseball team. This year I believe Franklin made it to the state tournament. Beech High School is an option too depending on where in Hendersonville we purchase a home. My son is only 13. He's going into 8th grade so obviously we aren't extremely concerned with the High School programs yet. But which program is better (Hendersonville, Beech, Franklin) and why? Which area has the better youth program? I see the 13U Hendersonville Lightning team has had a decent team the past few years. The Franlkin Outlaws team appears to be pretty good as well.

And what about football? My son loves baseball but he also has a passion for football.

Any information you can provide about these areas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Jason

cbg,

My half brother has a 14 year old daughter. She will be attending Franklin High School this coming year. They would agree with your assessment about the school system in that county. There are a few homes we like in that area.

Fungo,

Once we get down there, where ever it is we end up, I'm inviting my entire family over to your place for some "meat and potatoes". Smile

I just assumed he meant 'possum and fried taters. Beings he's a visitor we'd throw in a little boiled okra, corn on the cob drippin' with real butter, cornbread and sweet tea and peach cobbler with home made freezer cream. We mite even spruce up the place...you know, sweep the floor and warsh that special red and white checkered oilcloth on the table. He'll fall in love with Tennessee. Big Grin
Few minor menu adjustments if I ever get invited Wink, replace the possum with squirrel, deep fried okra instead of boiled, and WHAT, no wilted lettuce!?! biglaugh

BTW, yes I had squirrel while visiting the wife's relatives in Ark (only bit down on a couple of buckshot). Preacher from down South moved up here and got me hooked on the fried okra and wilted lettuce. Great for the cholesterol!! noidea

Don't forget the turnip and/or mustard and/or collard greens with pepper sauce, black eyed peas, pole beans, fried green tomaters, watermelon and blackberry cobbler.

For a snack later on, you can crumble up a piece or two of the left over corn bread in a big ol' glass and top off the rest of the glass with buttermilk.
FlippJ,
When considering Real Estate in our great state, please remember:

  • The domain name of your real estate web-site is “Bubbabuyshouses.com”…
  • You have to collateralize a rehab loan with a herd of cattle.
  • The property survey instead of showing detached garage, lists a detached outhouse.
  • “Flipping Properties” to you means swapping out mobile homes.
  • A “roof repair” consists of throwing another set of used tires on top of the mobile home to keep it from blowing off.
  • The house is located next to a “planned retirement community” really means by the cemetery.
  • You have to collect additional security deposit for any engine overhauls done in the living room.
  • In your rental contract you have to expressly state that the maximum number of cars on blocks in the front yard at any given time is three.
  • If classified advertisement of the property next to a “gated community” really means right down the road from the new prison built last year.

Come on down! rolleyes
