I got the chance to hug alot of pretty senior mom's last night and tell them to stop crying because this is a happy ocassion and not supposed to be sad. They didn't listen to me! Roll Eyes

Dane's parents were all smiles because we are just plain happy the administration didn't kill him before he graduated! Big Grin 08

It was very sad as the realization hit me that the final season was coming to a close and my life of mr. baseball would soon be changing to just showing up and watching.

My brother and I took off work yesterday and got the field ready after a rain storm just so we could have a senior night. Otherwise it would have been a wash out and the games would have been played in Clarksville and no more home games this season. After 7 years of this I guess I am ready to let go. The field was in top shape by game time! Unless we get a region game this year that was it for me. Smile

Alot more is changing than that! I am giving up 7 years of the Baseball Booster Club presidency too! No more running and getting the meals for the team on away trips during my lunch hour.

I have to admit my brother has been the field chief mowing and telling me to organize the dads to do the work on the baseball field. He won't let the high school maintenance department mess up our nice grass!

We raised money to light the field and moved the team from the city park back to the high school. We rebuilt the field with irrigation and new grass. We put new wind screen on the fences and got coke to give us a new score board. We are in the middle of building new dugouts for the kids coming behind our sons to leave things much better than when we arrived.

Since all the kids except my daughter are out of the house and I have been a single baseball dad since 1992. I am selling my house and getting married this fall to a wonderful lady I have dated for the last 8 years. She won't let me hug any more baseball mom's! Roll Eyes
