In NH, all make-up games have to be completed by Memorial Day because of the way the playoff schedule is set up. Its going to be tough for schools without a lot of pitching depth.

I cannot believe I am sitting in my den watching it snow on April 15th. Spoke with my parents, this morning. They are expecting two feet of this stuff up in Norway, ME.
Yes, it is getting old and I am ready for spring. I heard tree frogs last night so I know we are getting close.

The only good thing is it is allowing more time for my son's knee to heal and still be able to play some games this high school season. He sees the doc tomorrow and we are hoping he will get clearance to return to play!
Wind gusts in Nashua, this morning, are reported to have hit 52mph. Believe it or not, schools are in session. Not really sure for how long, though. Power is now reported to be out at Nashua High School South, Harbor Ave is closed due to flooding, part of Amherst St is closed because trees came down in power lines right next to Holman Stadium (home of our Nashua Pride - of the Can-Am League, for those who don't know).

Just heard that part of Rt 101 on the Amherst/Milford line is closed due to a landslide. You know, I love a storm as much as the next die-hard New Englander, but this one is making me nervous. I haven't seen winds this strong in this area since that no-name storm we had in the fall of '91 or '92.
20Dad,

When I came down the spauling turnpike this morning, I think I got passed by a boast with all those animals!

How long do you think it wil take the field at PHS to be viable if this weather stops on Wed or Thurs. What about Leary Field?

I spent Sat. morning rebuilding the mound at the STA. I just hope the tarp stays down, other wise all the work will get washed away. We could not even try to rake out the infield, it was just to soft & mucky.

Our coach is also the Asst AD, he did tell me the AD's across the state would possibly move to doing 4 games a week, but he dis not think 5 a week was anything anyone wants to attempt.

I think sometime this week, they will have to seriously consider playing less than 18 games. The how many and what to do with games already played will certainly make for some robust discussions.

KmomNH,

We just lounged around the house watching Stephen King's The Stand on Sci Fi yesterday. Matt did manage to get to the Works and get a good workout in. The rate this going, we may opening our season over there at HB next Monday.
NHFD and 20 dad,

Just watched video on WMUR of flooding in Goffstown, New Market, and Dover. Did't we end last year's baseball season like this?

If this stuff stops, the varsity field at North may dry out by the end of the week, but the freshman are going to find out that their field didn't rate the same kind of drainage system. Not sure how the fields are at South and BG. The huge net around the outfield at the Nashua North Cal Ripken field (next to Holman Stadium), which was put up to keep baseballs from flying out onto Amherst St, is down.

On the bright side, folks who opened new baseball facilities this year are cleaning up!
Just finished doing some extra stretches in preparation for the 3-days-rest starts in May...judging by this weather there will be a handful I presume.

In my parts, 8.22 inches of rain was recorded. The county was under a state of emergency and every single local school was closed for a "rain day". The weather man said it would have equated to nearly 5 feet of snow. Keep in mind, I'm just outside of NYC, nowhere near the Lakes.
All the local schools were closed today. I found out last night and reset my alarm right away lol.

There are a few schools that are even closed tomorrow. So many rivers around, the flooding is incredible. One of the local towns was on CNN before the Va Tech catastrophe this morning because the entire town flooded, it being next to a sound. The baseball field in that town is now a lake. Should be fun to pitch there
