FOR CUB FANS ONLY!!!

Did this collision last night in LA between D. Lee and Furcal really happen? X-rays taken in LA are "inconclusive". We know what that means, don't we? Tests taken in Chicago today and results announced tomorrow.

If there is one player on one MLB team that you absolutely, postively cannot lose for any length of time it is D. Lee from the Cubs.

Now Dusty & Hendry have their excuse for the 72 wins this season. Announcement on Dusty's extension should follow shortly.
If Lee's out for any extended period Cubs will need both simulated game and towel drill back soon and ready to pitch and win games.
Hoping Maddox can keep this going but without help it's easy to picture him in the rocking chair and Zambrano in a straight-jacket by September.
Meanwhile, Sox biggest worry is haircuts and staying interested as their staff mows down the A.L.
Well, the news was so bad that the Cubs couldn't even wait until tomorrow. D. Lee has 2 fractures in his wrist and will be in a cast for up to 6 weeks and could miss between 2 and 3 months!! First trip on the DL for him. I give up, I surrender!! I'm certainly not blaming anyone but I think I will pick up another team to kind of follow and maybe root for rather than get depressed about the Cubs and let it ruin a full season of good baseball.

I think the Cubs can survive unitll D. Lee gets back. As long as they don't tank in their division. It is a long season. If Lee comes back in late June and the cubs are not 80 games back in the NL central they will have a chance. The point is I don't think the season is over.
By the way what is the latest word on Prior and Wood.
Heard a doctor this morning say 8 to 10 weeks is very optimistic. Swing & miss and check-swings can be very painful even after rehab.
Wood may begin minor league rehab stint next weekend. Could be mid-May for Wood and early June for Prior.
Jokester on ESPN said Prior pulled a vocal cord during his last court appearance and is seeking a 60 day continuance.
The Sox currently have a better team then the Cubs have. With that being said, it will always be a Cubs town first. No matter what, that kills the few true White Sox fans out there. Remember it was so bad on the southside not so long ago that Reinsdorf almost packed up and moved the team to Florida. Both teams have had a bad history in Chicago but it's like Jermaine Dye said this is still a Cubs town. Even Whitesox players realize that.
I have to agree 100% that this is a Cubs town. After the Cubs run in 2003 and the Sox run last year, it was obvious to me that the Cubs going to the NLCS was more exciting for the city than the Sox winning it all. As sad as that is, it is the truth. This is, and always will be the Cubs' city. (I'm a fan of neither team for the record).
Sox...

The only thing that the Cubbies have that the Sox want is Juan Pierre.

KW couldn't get it done (not even sure if he wanted to do it), and now we have a minor leaguer in centerfield. I've seen enough. He'll (BA) will be a fine player down the road, but you can't play a guy who hits .150 and real bad at-bats who can't catch (Detroit).

Talk with KW and work on getting us a journeyman centerfielder. Fast mentioned Corey Patterson. I would take him any day over BA.

Hope the Sox magical run continues this afternoon.

duece...One well hit ball in 50 at bats doesn't cut it at that level.

He's struck out nearly 20 times in 45 abats.

Moreover, someone will look at today's statistics and say "wow, he got two hits"...That "screaming swinging bunt" that could have just as easily been called an error doesn't cut it.

Send him back to the minors and get a journeyman centerfielder.

If Corey Patterson is available at Baltimore, the Sox should pick him up as insurance. CP can catch the ball with the best of them and a change of scenery back to Chicago (to a contender) would be good for him.

I like Anderson down the road, but he simply is not ready to play at this level right now. Ozzie may keep him in the lineup because everyone else's success permits him to "afford" a guy who hits like a pitcher at the bottom of the order.

It's funny, when Rowand was on the Sox he was all-world, now that he isn't the Sox are better off with a struggling rookie. And they say Sox fans are better and more knowledgable than Cub fans? Where is the objectivity?

I don't think anyone (including Soxnole) thought that Rowand was all-world when he was with the Sox. Did lots of people like him? Yes. I still remember one game where he went to the fence and turned and jumped and the ball was about 20 feet to the right of where he was jumping!

As I've said several times, the Sox should have gone after Pierre (with the Florida fire sale).

Because of the BAD at bats Anderson has had in his first 50 this year, I've seen enough. He's not ready at this level.

As for 20-75...maybe in AAA but not at this level.

Kenny Williams would do well to find a journeyman centerfielder instead of having an "automatic out" at the bottom of the order.

All of that being said, it proves that Sox fans are truly more knowledgeable and objective about the game of baseball than anyone who cheers for the Cubbies.

Everyone is all excited about Maddux and his 4-0 start. He's topping out at 84 and his change is at 74-77. Most of his pitches are 79-82.
While I respect what he has done in his career, I don't understand anyone's "advance scouting" for the major league teams. If you don't have to worry about his fastball, it is easy to adjust to a 79-82 pitch. Brenly was in love with him yesterday, but Brenly also didn't say anything about the "dramatically declined velocity" from last year to this year. Last year he touched 88 and cruised 86-88. No more.

Cubs will be out of the race by July 1st.

Go White Sox...only 22 more to go to get to 30 wins in a row!
The trade that sent Rowand helped the pitching staff. All Sox fans are saying is give Andrson a cahnce. Sandberg started 0-32 or something. Some of you guys would have sent him packing. The game before the home run he started swinging better. He had a hit and a sacrifice fly. There are sisgns his bat is coming to life.It is very early to decide whether or not he will make it.
Been,

Two points I'd like to make. First, last year Maddux was NOT touching 88 and cruising 86-88. That simply is not the case. He may be down a couple of MPH so far this season, but whatever changes he has made over last years disappointing season seem to be working.

I don't think with Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens deserving of getting their shot on the big club that you forget about all that you've invested in these young players. To sign Juan Pierre for this year, and then try and sign him to a lengthy contract as he becomes a free agent after this season just doesn't make sense to me. It made sense for the Cubs because they were in desperate need of a leadoff man, a base stealer and a defensive improvement over last year. Felix Pie isn't ready and can use the added experience playing every day in the minors. I think this is a perfect opportunity to bring along a player like Anderson slowly, in a situation where he is a small cog on a big machine. JMO.
