Here's to a great 2008 with lots of hits, double plays, spectacular catches in the outfield, fast throwdowns to 2nd base, throwing the heat, nailing that curveball, and beating the throw on the steal!

More importantly, here's to continuing to have an awesome relationship with your baseball son and your family - that's what's important in life. So many times we get caught up in the dramas of baseball that we forget about the lessons that baseball is teaching us - humility, team work, life isn't always fair, joy, patience, hard work can pay off, and others.

Do you have any thoughts (the ups and downs of 2007) on the past year you'd like to share? Any resolutions you'd like to pass on?

One of my resolutions - being extra thankful every day for my family and letting them know (sometimes hard to remember with teenage boys and monitoring conflicts between them and their dad!).

Have a safe New Year's Eve!

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2008

Words of advice for 2008:

Try not to get caught up in what others are doing.
The HSBB web is a great resource, but it is easy to get caught up in all that goes on here, and not all of us can keep up. Make your own plan that fits your family and stay true to it.

Provide your kids with unconditional love.
Do not be fearful of saying NO.
Get your mamograms!
Tell your family you love them everyday.

Very wise words!
I like this forum. maybe i should stay in this spot lol. So true that we dont get caught up in some of the stuff. Our boys safety and health are most important as well as the rest of our familys. My parents both died four years ago 58 days apart. My fondest memory was a 10 year old all star game that i brought my dad to. The game went 9 inings and my son hit a triple in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded. My dad was in the stands saying to everyone thats my grandson . he had tears in his eyes he was so proud and happy to be part of it. I would trade any collge scholarship etc. etc, for my dad just to have seen my son play in one high school game.sometimes we do get caught up in all the stress of where they might play in college. there was a young man killed by a drunk driver two days before christmas in our area. theyre only child, the picture of him was in his baseball uniform. we have so much to be thankful that we have our sons. just try and remember that all of us moms as the HS and college seasons are getting ready to begin. its just a game.
I agree 100% with all who are making a resolution to step back and see the big picture. They are all healthy, happy, smart, funny, interesting, diverse, delightful people. Love them for who they are and enjoy the ride. Encourage them to always do their best, try their hardest and take all the chances that come along and they won't be disappointed in the outcome. Here's to "making it great in 2008!"

fan - that's a great post too! cry My father, who loved baseball, died at a young age and several years before I had children. How he would have loved to see my son on the baseball field! We take so much for granted in this world. I have decided to make this my new year's resolution - I will appreciate all things in my life more. I have been very blessed in so many ways.
Cheers Girls...May your best day of '07 be your worst in '08! I say my prayers on my way to work every morning and always as I am finishing some miracle of nature catches my eye to reinforce the grace and beauty of God...a fabulous sunrise, a glisten of ice on a tree branch, an illuminating moon or maybe a sky full of stars...a reminder that He's provided us with a wonderful day to make the most of. Does it get any better than that????
