In another thread BOF piqued my curiosity when he made reference to a high academic DII. The DII's I'm familiar with wouldn't carry this label, but then again I have far greater familiarity with DI and DIII schools. I'd be very interested to know which DII's are considered high academic.

BLD: I think you misread the OP. Very familiar with DIII's. Inquiring about high academic DII's.
JCG: Thanks!
When we went through the process we found that DII's tended to be state schools, and not the academic profile that fit my son with the exception of Cal Poly Pomona and UCSD. I am sure they are out there but we did not find them and he was looking for engineering so this narrowed his search as well.
I think there are plenty of High Academic D-II in Florida although they are all Private. University of Tampa has some good programs as does Barry University. I would think that Lynn is fairly strong as well as Eckerd.

So is Nova University, although it is very much a commuter school, IMO.
I didn't realize that there was such a stigma against D-IIs. My dd is at a D-II. While she is only going into teaching, it is considered the top school, in the State of Missouri, for their School of Education regardless of NCAA affiliation. It is also one of the top schools in the nation with regards to law enforcement training. In fact, the FBI among others do courses there. It is one of the top Optometry schools in the State of Missouri. My daughter's degree will read "The University of Missouri" when she receives it.
FF,
No disrespect intended, but check their admissions standards. I don't think you'll find any of those to be considered high academic. That's not to say they're not fine schools in their own right, or that they don't provide a quality education.
Colorado School of Mines is a pretty selective D2, an applicant particularly better have pretty good math credentials.
Missouri S&T is an engineering school in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. I am certain that it has a tremendous reputation for academics.
FloridaFan, dont forget Embry-Ridddle. They are now a D2 in a probationary period in the Sunshine State Conference. They went in along with Palm Beach Atlantic. Both are in probationary stage.Embry is a great Aeronautical school. Actually all of the Sunshine State Conference schools have pretty high academic standards.

This is an outstanding engineering school. I believe they were previously D3, but regardless an excellent choice for someone looking for baseball and engineering in the West.
If you are looking in the Northeast consider Bentley University. Very good business school, highly selective, and located in suburban Boston area. It is a private school as well and plays baseball in the Northeast-10 conference.
+1 Bentley University.

Forgot about Bentley. Couple of son's former summer ball teammates play there. Excellent school.
