You may want to check the Texas UIL homepage regarding the rules concerning athletic booster clubs, how they are supposed to be operated, the extent of the coach's involvement allowed and how funds are ultimately determined to be spent. The rules are very specific, and it only takes one complaint to get a coach / school sideways with the UIL. It's best to do some research on this matter rather than to rely on the way it's done elsewhere.
"Supposed to" should talk to some of the schools and coaches / former coaches that have been sanctioned for UIL violations. What booster clubs don't realize is that if they are caught violating rules, everyone will suffer - most importantly student athletes, coach and program. Again, it takes only one really honest person or one who is dissatisfied with their son's playing time to create a lot of problems for a lot of people....

I suggest people take the inititive to search the UIL site for 'hearings' 'violations' 'suspensions'. North/central Texas schools have been sanctioned more than you may realize. Often times the harshest sanctions are against the coach and student, and because these are essentially personnel issues, the public hears little or no detail. Sometimes you wonder why a coach is suddenly gone at the end of the year or why you can't compete in UIL competitions, etc.
