Link: High School Senior To Play at FSU this Spring
It is common for college players to give up their senior year but the attached article is an interesting twist with a high school player giving up his senior year. It sounds like a good decision on the players part but was wondering what some of our other posters thought. I was also wondering if high school coaches might be a little nervous in the future when colleges come calling on the studs who have a chance to graduate early.

He turned 18 in September so he's a relatively old HS player. There are a lot of ballplayers younger than him who finished their HS senior season last year and are already part way through their college freshman year. Guess I don't see what the big deal is?

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe bbscout's son didn't turn 18 until November of his freshman year. That's more impressive to me than a kid who turns 18 in September of what will be his freshman year.

Yes, it is Soxnoles son and I say good for him if that is what they decided as a family.
It is done, not often but it is done, the senior will give up the draft, but may have a chance to be drafted earlier. If he is drafted after his junior year, he will almost have completed lots of credits towards his degree. Also, most HS seniors have not completed enough of their credits or required courses to graduate, one must plan way in advance for early graduation.
Knowing what we know a year later, if it was proposed now to my son, he would definetly consider.
Soxnoles,
Good luck to your son, and welcome to the ACC!
