The high school seasons here in the Northeast are cancelled because all the fields are under FEET of snow, not inches. Just kidding but not kidding. ...
Enough with the snow.

Thank goodness the D1 college season starts in 17 days and I can head south!!!

I had a game in an April snowstorm once.....the home team coach wouldn't cancel. He thought I wouldn't show up and that was the only way he was going to beat us.

Ice pellets this morning... .winter storm advisory......high wind advisory.....one more log on the fire.
If we go ahead and cancel the HS season does that mean the Clippers can set sail that much sooner? I know we have one vote for that Smile

We do appreciate our Northern friends taking back all your snow and ice this year. Last year you shipped it down to us in VA & MD and our communities just don't have the equipment to deal with it. Still have most of the foot we got last week on the ground, and that's about all we can handle around here.

All you Yankees stay safe now, ya'hear Smile
Guys, our school district just canceled classes, for the 3rd day in a row...this time not for weather, but because the engineers want to get out and inspect all the school structures. With all the building collapses in CT, one a tennis facility in our town, they don't want to take any chances. Yikes.

At least the YMCA and the batting cages are open.

This is snow day # 9. So our school year now ends June 24 (so long to Perfect Game tournament on Long Island June 18 -20; don't know who the heck will be able to make that one!!) ..... and spring break is just about out the window for most of our towns.

Chicagoland --- hang in there. It looked like a bad one! Be safe everyone.
In the north I propose cyber schooling come December, January and February. This eliminates most school closings, reduces energy costs tremendously and eliminates the ridiculous busing of students on icy highways. Oh yeah, cuts down on the spread of viruses. One last thing, takes all that waste of time in transportation, assembly, dining and just plain babysitting and chucks it out the window. Three hours a day is all you'd need.

06catcherdad - don't take this wrong, but I just told my computer screen your #1 if you know what i mean.

"And you're finished already? You must be in good shape!"

Me? Good shape? I guess...if you consider a pear a good shape!

My recently acquired snowblower is in good shape. It has an 8 HP motor with 5 forward speeds and 2 reverse. It's 12 years old and was given to us by a friend down the block who just purchased a new one. Previously we didn't own one. All hand shovel work after past storms.

We had five from our family doing battle on our and our neighbor's walk and drive. The drifts were too massive for even this snowblower so our daughters broke them apart so my son could munch through them with the snowblower. The old machine worked perfectly! As did our children too. I got in handful of supervisory hours. I'm learning.

Ok- well back here on iced Island, I am working on a streak of sorts! I am 2 for 2! Yep! fell yesterday and bruised a shoulder while trying to clear the ice. and today, took a tumble in the back yard while trying to remove steroid eating icicles from the gutter. This time the kneecap took the hit!

So far, I have managed to protect my noggin but am toying with the idea of wearing a bicycle helmet until my balance or the weather gets better! Big Grin

I am ready to watch some baseball!! Before I continue my personal battle with a tough pitcher named Jack Frost who is out to keep decking me and keeping me off the plate!
