Son (high school junior) will be attending a showcase/camp this coming weekend. The camp is asking for a copy of his high school transcript. Is this the norm?

My 08' son has never experienced a showcase/camp that has asked for a highschool transcript.
I'll admit though, I know nothing, about anything, that has to do with being normal.
( Especially during this recruiting process.)

My son will be attending one next month, and they asked for a transcript as well
My son attended showcases, played for private ball clubs, etc., they all wanted transcripts. Baseball players learn early that it's about staying eligible, or your ability to play on your school team, and some private ball clubs will not be available to your son.
Usually the "unofficial" HS transcript will be sent to college coaches not showcase people--- we do not ask for them--

louisiana - I don't think its the norm, but why not give it to them? Maybe I'd make sure they weren't going to post it on the internet...but otherwise why not?
Whatever is on it (good or bad) will be asked for by college coaches eventually anyways.
As our son's recruiting process began to heat up, I just got a dozen or so of our son's transcripts ready to send out...seemed like the request came often enough that it was a good thing to have ready to go.

I have no problem at all giving it to them. I am happy to give it to them (3.94 GPA). I was just wondering if this was the norm, this is only his second showcase/camp and I just want to be prepared for future camps and showcases. Thanks to everyone.

Most likely they are preparing a bio or database for those interested.
After all, GPA, test scores ARE important.

I wouldn't hesitate to give it to them either. Just like some kids that are listed at 6'2" turn out to be 5'10" there are kids who list their gpa as 3.5, who really are 2.5. Why should a college coach waste time on a kid who isn't academically qualified?

I noticed my son's school lists the student's social security number on the transcript, you might want to be cautious about that. Don't know if all schools do that?

Of course if you are the kid with the 2.5 but your grades have shown marked improvement over the first three years of HS, then better to send the transcript than the raw number.
