The 2009 freshman team will be very weak in our school district. Almost no travel ball teams, a lot of Rec teams. My son was the very few who play for the out of town travel ball team. As far as I can see, there are no players have the skills to play Varsity as Freshman for the 2009 class in our district.
Wow Coach May, 6 sophomore all state players from the same team. You must admit this is an extremely unusual circumstance. I can only speak for what I have seen, one of the original freshman starters was not good enough to be on varsity as a junior but the coach apparently could not admit he maybe made a mistake so he played him every inning to the detriment of the team. Now this is probably an unusual circumstance also and of course it depends on a lot of factors as to whether to play a freshman. My advice to RJM is to go for it but as always, keep a close eye on what benefits the team and his son the most.
Son will be pitching for Varsity, position player (starter) for JV. He has both sets of uniforms. I will probably send him the wrong uniform one day. the worst part two pairs of school owned white pants we can't bleach!!! panic panic At least he is not a catcher....

The boy is a HS player---he can select his own uniform, don't cha think !!!

I was only interested in opinions. My son doesn't get to choose. He'll play where he's told by the coach. The worst thing that happens is he skips the freshman team, plays JV and starts varsity next year.quote:Originally posted by smalltown:
