Wow Coach May, 6 sophomore all state players from the same team. You must admit this is an extremely unusual circumstance. I can only speak for what I have seen, one of the original freshman starters was not good enough to be on varsity as a junior but the coach apparently could not admit he maybe made a mistake so he played him every inning to the detriment of the team. Now this is probably an unusual circumstance also and of course it depends on a lot of factors as to whether to play a freshman. My advice to RJM is to go for it but as always, keep a close eye on what benefits the team and his son the most.

I was only interested in opinions. My son doesn't get to choose. He'll play where he's told by the coach. The worst thing that happens is he skips the freshman team, plays JV and starts varsity next year.
