Every year people complain that the coach keeps too many kids, it's not about kids making the team and playing baseball, it's about kids making the money for the team, 15 players gens this much money, but 20 players gens another 25% Smile
There are not as many players on the team in summer ball, the players are better, the competion is better, chance to be seen is better, scouts can see more kids at one tourney than traveling around. Hey this has been going on in high level HS basketball for 20 years....AAU teams , summer basketball that's were Caliperi goes to find them.

Great...just what we need...baseball to be more like "high level" basketball.

Exactly because there's no corruption in basketball. Best thing about the University of Kentucky not winning their 8th National Championship this year?????? They won't have to vacate it once they find out what Caliperi (or those who he deems worthy enough to fall on their sword for him) did wrong.

bacdor go tell the high school coach where your son attends school and tell him all this you've posted. I don't think it will endear him to you or your son.

High school baseball is awesome for the most part but it's like everything else in life - you get out of it what you put into it. Are there bad things like favortisim, politics, not being very good and stuff like that - heck yeah there is. But it also applies to summer / travel ball as well. That's why as parents you need to do your homework on high schools and summer teams. Find the ones who will help your son. I realize with high school there is less flexibility to choose where to go but as ctandc has pointed out in one thread (not sure which one) use it as an opportunity for your son to learn how to overcome some kind of adversity or to function in a team or whatever.

If all you do is gripe and complain then nothing gets done and it turns your son into a terrible teammate. Focus on the good and let it make him into a better person.
