I'd like to add context to this situation since I know the player. The varsity team will be under 9 players this weekend if they were to play with their other team. I don't think the coach is threatening them as much as just wanting them to play so he can field a team. The words may not be the best choice, but I understand the idea.

Between traveling and the rain I haven't watched much fall ball. I watched Coppell play two games today and I enjoyed watching my son and the other pitchers....but even that got old in todays heat.

I would like to say that Coach English has deeper pitching coming into next Spring...but with the other team swinging wood not metal that would be a hope not a statement based in fact.

One real good note is that Cameron Watten started the first game and throw one inning, three up three down, all strike-outs.

I can't wait for Spring!!!... or it that February.

this weekend jesuitbaseball and i were told that if we didnt play this weekend with our school's fall team instead of our slect team that we would have a hard time making the spring team. I thought that this was rather interesting cosidering that there were two other players that were going to showcases over our school's fall team. one of them happens to be dtiger. Thought that this was something intersting to add if anyone would like to add their thoughts
I don't know anything about the situation but is it possible that other players that were planning to miss notified the coach they would not be there before you did....then when the coach was in a situation where he was missing too many players to field a team he started telling players no, he did not want them to miss?

That would make sense to me in that situation.

That is the case cheapseats. I and the other played notified the coach on Monday. I really still think they should've been allowed to go. They had 25+ freshman try out. It seems like a few freshman could've been called up to JV and then a few kids on JV could've been called up to Varsity. I know that the coach has had to deal with these situations before. My freshman year the varsity in the fall was always short with seniors leaving for showcases, and they managed to work around it with calling up players and such. That is a point as well, for some reason he feels that only seniors need to be doing showcases.

First things first, the Jesuit boys need to get create their own topic if they want to complain like little boys.

As boring or uneventful at the fall seems, the high school coaches are forming opinions about players, team players and formulating their spring plans.

Most of my friends will tell you I am little crazy, so I guess replying to myself is kind of like talking to myself on a website like this. Go ahead and call me crazy.

Sunday was much better than Saturday, no offense to Coach English nor the DBAT WoodBat league. But on Sunday I saw so good baseball, not great just good. The Dallas Patriots beat the North Texas Wranglers twice. The Patriots have a good core of young men and Logan Stout was there to manage them, encourage them. The BBI Fall League is doing fine and watching the boys get hits with metal bat is fine by me....but I'm not a coach...just a fan.

I know hitting with wood will help them in the long run to hit better with the metal.

Maybe the fall has more value than I thought. JMHO
