My son's HS team is having a Hit-A-Thon. Just got the e-mail from the coach - problem is he didn't explain what it is.....I want to let the sponsors we'll try to pin down (aka GRANDMA!) exactly how the event works and how their donations will be figured.....
can anyone help me understand so I can write a good request letter?
Thanks

During these times of limited budgets for athletic programs, schools must be creative in generating sources of revenue. In order to provide quality sports programs to our students, ----- High school will be holding a hit-a-thon on ----. A hit-a-thon is administered as follows:

- 10 pitches per player by a pitching machine
- Donation Per foot determined by pledger (1 cent x 300 feet = $3 for one ball)
- a one cent per foot donation will amount to somewhere between $20 and $40 donation.
- Minimum 200 feet per hit.
- No hit over 400 ft.
- flat donation will be accepted by all players
- coaches determine distance of balls over fence
- Tax ID # for tax deduction

Upon completion of the hit-a-thon the players will collect the sponsored money. The player will issue a receipt with the coaches signature as well as the players signature. Please make checks payable to---.

All donations will be utilized for ...

We are doing something simular for football, a liftathon. The four core lifts: bench, squat, jerk press, and power clean. We max out on each, and you donate a cent per pound lifted. E.G. .01 x 1000 lbs = $10

If you collect $200, you get a football team sweatshirt. And we also send thanks letters as well as tax deductability.
