1. Have a batter who turns to bunt and clearly makes a attempt to bunt the ball. He is hit on the arm while making the attempt. Was awarded first base even though it was clearly in the stike zone. My opinion strike should have been called on bunt attempt.

2. Next have batter who is hit by pitch makes no attempt to move on slow change-up. When we watched video it actually shows player leaning into pitch. Ump makes him stay saying he didn't make attempt to get out of way of pitch. Coach of other team protest saying no such rule and wins protest with tournament director saying player does not have to make a attempt to move in High School Federation Rules. Does player have to make attempt or not? Game almost got ugly because players where constantly leaning into pitches all game to be awarded bases. At one point I called time to speak to ump and stated that intentionally getting hit should be called and player should be ejected for unsportsman like conduct. My pitcher clearly getting frustrated sails very good fastball at opposing pitchers head. I went to mound to calm my guy down (even though I was getting frustrated myself). This was a 16-u tourn and before people start replying that I just have wild pitchers, we only had two walks the entire game. We traveled a long way for this tournament and had never seen this type of play before, not a sore loser we won the game.

1. Just wanted to know is it a strike on the attemped bunt

2. Does a batter have to make a attempt to get out of the way of a pitch in HSF Rules.

Pirate Fan has nailed the rulings......absolutely ....

Can not believe that this was upheld by a TD using NFHS rules.....it is right there in the book......

Also, this was a "point of emphasis" from the NFHS rules committee a few years ago. That if a batter, in the umpires judgment, did not make an effort to move out of the way, then we were to keep the batter at the plate and not award a HBP.....
