Seeing the curve better is a visual thing. It is also individual. He can be taught mechanically to keeps his hands back longer and adjust when he ID's the curve. Then there is lots of visual training, like seeing the curve thrown in the pen, hitting against it in the cage, whether machine thrown or live. Then live bp, have him aks the coach or pitcher to throw it more often.
When coaching, I always had certain bp time set aside for Cb's.
