If you're hitting the ball right at people, you're not swinging properly.....

You have certainly lost your mind. (of course we all know you are probably a closet computer geek laughing your rear off as you get everyones ire up).....LOL

Oh I forgot, the game was designed so everyone could hit .750.......LOL

You haven't played a day of organized ball past high school have you Blue?

Blue,

I would like to be the first to thank you for the free advice you give............

I would also like hear some of the advice you give to people who actually pay for it.......

And on a serious note....

I appoligize for getting personal.....I took the low road......I still disagree w/ virtually everything you teach, that you have exposed me to on this site

I think if you laid all 52 cards face down on a table, you have a 1 in 52 chance of picking up the 2 of hearts.

Sooooooo, it begs the question, if you lay 9 guys face down on a field, what are your chances of getting a ball to fall in between them? Now, if you stand all 9 up and let them chase it, what does that do to your odds?

I'm putting my money on the guy who is consistently clean at contact (meaning most balls don't spin or squibble off his bat). He's probably the one buying everyone's drinks after the game with his World Poker Championship-sized contract.
Since every hitter tries to hit it where they aint and the best hit between .300-.400, the real secret is actually trying to hit it right at the fielders...because when you try and do this you will actually get more hits...its truly amazing...and all these years coaches all around the world told hitters they were supposed to hit it where the fielders weren't located...what a scam...Smile
And again as usual from the ALL KNOW KNOW NOTHING BLue Dog we do not get an answer--not even close

Does he know anything at all ??

You swing is bad if you are hitting the ball at people---You know it just came to me---it concerns batters hitting foul balls into the stands where they hit "people"=== notice he didnt say fielders--darn he set us up again !!!
This is absolutely the "Best one yet for me", BD. You do know that coaches try to teach their defensive players how to be in the right place at the right time, and wear a leather device called a fielders glove so that hitters will not be succesful. Doesn't matter how hard they hit it or where, if a guy can go get it.
Another "Good Will Hunting" example of theory over experience.
Bluedog,

Is this the kind of stuff you came up with after 4 months of work/research? http://hsbaseballweb.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8291034941/...411066851#6411066851

3-8-06 “Well folks, the BlueDog is shutting it down.....Retiring.....There is some work/research I need to do....I'm in the process of changing my teaching methods.....In closing, I will say there are many ways to hit.....Many people to learn from....And, nobody has all the answers...I would suggest to listen to everyone and check what they have to say to video....The model to emulate is the MLB hitter......Chase the Holy Grail of hitting, but make sure you never find it.....”

LOL. Take your own advice. Please.

THop, you are too rich!

Personally, I haven't noticed any change in teaching methods. Same old, same old!

And the line about there being "many ways to hit" really cracks me up, since BD always acts as if there is only one true way -- his way -- though exactly what IS his way, we may never know. We get lots of pot shots, hypothetical questions, and some occasional gobbledygook masquerading as insight, but no concrete methodology.

I still think BD is just somebody who likes to see if he can get a rise out of people -- not a baseball expert at all, just someone with a mental illness he puts on display with disturbing frequency. I got over getting angry with him a long time ago. Now I just shake my head and laugh.

NYdad, you surprised me a bit......This is something you should be thinking about.....

BlueDog, I clearly understood the "message" in your statement which was balls should be flying over outfielders heads based on ideal swing plane/trajectory... However, timing is also a
factor. Although one's swing mechanics can be consistent over time the same can not be said or expected of timing as there is a pitcher on the mound whose job it is to disrupt that timing. If your timing is off you will mis-hit some. Hence the setting the bar too high remark.
Just a report from the real world,

My sons team is competeing for the NH American Legion Title. Over weekend, we saw a lot of great baseball. I saw a lot of great swings become outs, and a few lousy swings become hits. Strange how that works in this game isn't it.

Weird how a center fielder making a diving catch did not know he was not supposed to catch that one because the batter made a perfect swing. Must have been a time warp occuring when a kid was way in front of a pitch, hit it off the end of the bat and the ball just maanged to find that spot where the ball just slipped past a diving 3rd baseman and a diving shortstop.

Personally, I think it is what make this game so great. Swing your best, put the ball in play, and let's just see what happens.
